Steel wear solutions
Steel Melt Shop (Scrap & Slag Zones) Wear Solutions
Durable protection for scrap and slag handling.
SMS (Steel Melt Shop)
Zone Introduction
SMS handles scrap charging, steel tapping, slag pouring — subjected to heavy impact + high heat.
Smooth scrap flow keeps heat cycle stable.
Breakdowns → Heat loss, inefficient operations, major yield drop.

How wear happens
Process Description
Scrap is dropped from a height into charging bins/chutes.
Slag flows from BOF/EAF during tapping.
Wear mechanisms:
The more scrap recycled → Higher mechanical wear.
Slag zones are constantly attacked by corrosive compounds.
- Scrap impact denting & plate deformation
- Irregular sharp scrap edges gouging
- Slag turbulence chemical abrasion
- Repeated heating/cooling metal fatigue & cracks
- Flame and radiant heat accelerated wear
