UHMWPE liners
UHMWPE liners and sheets for chutes, hoppers and bins
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene liners that keep sticky, wet material moving. Low friction, self-lubricating and light to install.
When material hangs up in a chute or bin, the problem is usually friction, not hardness. UHMWPE liners have a very low coefficient of friction, so wet coal, fines and sticky ore slide off instead of building up.
We supply UHMWPE liners and UHMWPE sheets through our conveyor partner Rubbex, cut and fitted to your chutes, hoppers and bins.
Why use UHMWPE chute liners
- Very low friction stops build-up and rat-holing
- Self-lubricating surface keeps material flowing
- Low moisture absorption, so wet material does not stick
- Light to handle and quick to install
- Good resistance to sliding abrasion and many chemicals
Where UHMWPE fits, and where it does not
UHMWPE is best for sliding flow of wet or sticky material at ambient temperature. It is not suited to hot material, and heavy lumps dropped from height can gouge it. For those zones we specify wear plate or impact blocks instead, often in the same chute.
Typical applications
- Coal bunkers, hoppers and chutes
- Iron ore fines and wet ore handling
- Truck and wagon body liners
- Stockyard reclaim hoppers
- Transfer chutes with frequent hang-up
What you get
- Material flows instead of packing
- Less manual cleaning and poking
- Fewer flow-related stoppages
- Light liners, fast changeouts

Frequently asked questions
What is a UHMWPE liner?
A liner made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, a plastic with very low friction and good abrasion resistance. It is used to line chutes, hoppers and bins so that material slides instead of building up.
UHMWPE liners vs PU liners: which is better?
They solve different problems. UHMWPE is best where low friction and flow matter most, such as sticky coal. PU is better for wet abrasion and impact, such as slurry and screens. We often use both in the same plant.
Can UHMWPE liners handle hot material?
No. UHMWPE is an ambient-temperature material. For hot sinter, clinker or coke we specify high-temperature wear plate.
Do you supply UHMWPE sheets cut to size?
Yes. We supply UHMWPE sheets and liners cut, drilled and fitted to your chute and hopper dimensions.
